Naiad and the Sport England Story

A year ago, Debbie White, who was the current snorkel officer together with John Waterhouse, now the club's regional snorkel advisor and another couple of members, decided to further develop snorkelling within the branch, for existing and new members by expanding our instructor base and improving our open water snorkelling capabilities.

Perseverance is a 7m RIB. She is not actually our own boat, we have her on loan from the 1st Standlake & Cokethorpe Sea Scout Group after agreeing to overhaul and maintain her.

Capable of 30-40 knots and carrying 8-10 divers she is a highly useful boat. Here are some photos from sea trials on the Solent following maintainence.

Background: Over the winter of 1974/75, members of Oxford branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club built a boat.
