Saturday 21st June 2014 was a glorious day, just perfect for snorkelling. With high tide due just after lunch, it meant a leisurely start with everyone meeting on the beach at Kimmeridge around 11.30am. While lunch was being eaten I talked the snorkellers through their first advanced theory lesson, touching on risk asessement. Getting the snorkellers, especially those new to open water to talk about what is invloved in doing a risk assessment is the best way to make them think about their conduct and actions in and around the water.

Snorkel Trip to Penzance 29th and 30th June
Successful trip to Penzance to snorkel with basking sharks.
Long journey but well worth the trip, hoping to repeat next year. After a long search we found the basking sharks not easy in 2m high waves.
Lovely time watching the seals as well.

Lundy Island 2nd October 2011
We couldn’t have wished for more perfect weather. As the 11 of us gathered on the harbour side at 10am ready to meet Ian the skipper of Obsession I, the sun was just burning away the last remaining clouds and mist. Obsession I is a Procharter P3, 40 foot long charter boat that works out of Ilfracombe harbour. Skippered by Ian and helped by his son Dominic we couldn’t have been in better hands.

Trip Report – Lulworth Cove 21st August 2011
After launching Naiad, mid morning at Kimmeridge Bay our first stop was Worbarrow bay. The visibility was about 7 metres and from the moment we entered the water we were surrounded by fish such as wrasse, mullet, white bait and Pollock. It was hard to decide where to look. Half an hour in the water passed very quickly.
We then took a leisurely trip round into Lulworth Cove where we anchored up and swam to shore for lunch. While waiting for Andi and Howard to fetch the fish and chips, Amelia and I snorkeled around in 1 metre of water about 3 metres from the shore and surprisingly saw some decent size wrasse.
