Snorkel Courses with Oxford BSAC
Courses are included in the cost of membership but course manuals and Qualification Record Books are extra.
Courses are run on a supply and demand basis. As each course is run at the pace of the individual we normally match members with others of the same ability. For this reason, a simple swimming and water confidence assessment of members takes place before the course starts.
We run two pool courses: Dolphin Snorkeller and Snorkel Diver
Dolphin Snorkeller
This course introduces snorkelling via a series of seven progressive, fun, pool sessions. Each session is named after a different type of dolphin, and completion of a session results in the award of the corresponding dolphin sticker.
Once students have collected a complete set of dolphin stickers, they can be awarded the grade of BSAC Dolphin Snorkeller.
On completion of the course, the instructor will inform HQ and a certificate and cloth badge will be presented to the student
Students will need to purchase the dolphin course manual along with an A5 plastic ring binder Qualification Record Book which together is £9.50.
Snorkel Diver
There are classroom sessions to teach the theoretical knowledge of snorkelling, coupled with practical lessons in the pool or in sheltered water. The training is structured and progressive, building skills and confidence.
On completion of the course, the instructor will inform HQ and a certificate and cloth badge will be presented to the student
Students will need to purchase the snorkel diver manual which is £5.00
The Qualification Record Book
The Qualification Record Book is an A5 plastic ringer binder which holds all the student’s qualifications, with room at the back for the Skill Development course qualification cards.
