First Open Water Snorkelling Outing for 2011

{jcomments on}Friday 3rd June saw the first open water outing this year for 10 snorkellers from Oxford BSAC.

Photo of our snorkelling boat, NaiadUsing our recently purchased Humber RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat), Naiad, which was funded by a Sport England Lottery grant, we launched at Kimmeridge Bay on a glorious sunny morning.

The first trip out was round to Chapman’s Pool, where in 3m deep of water we saw spider crabs and wrasse. After lunch, a second trip was made over to Warborough Bay where many more Spider crabs were spotted amongst the kelp and gorgeous pink seaweed.

This trip was a great success, introducing some of our younger members to open water snorkelling from a RIB for the first time.
